I will caution you that there aren't any combat holsters for the Hi-Capa series of pistols by virtue of the fact that they're built on a race-gun frame. You'll either need to modify the trigger guard like I've done (Fobus 1911 railed holster) or modify a holster like TK (Black Hawk Serpa Sig P226) has done (if you want a Kydex holster anyway). The soft universal holsters will work with Hi-Capas, however be aware that they will cause you to drop your magazine (bumping the mag catch) while running so you'll want to have some kind of active magazine retention if you're using a soft holster.
Apart from that, have fun and welcome to the Hi-Capa club.

Thanks for the info Bishop. I hadn't considered any of that. Right now i have a cheapie "soft" holster on my vest. I'll have to figure out some way to deal with the mag catch issue, something tells me that gas magazines don't take to well to being dropped.

No they do not and at $45 each(at least my WA mags are that much) you don't want that happening. I prefer the vest mounted cross draw style. It's in a good location for me and I can keep track of everything. The dropleg holsters have always had a "flop around" issue with my larger frame WA GBB's. My KWA G19 is a little thing and does not suffer as much from this issue.
Lights out

Mine is a cross draw vest but it's a pretty inexpensive one. The holster is fully attached to the vest so it can't be repositioned at all. Still, it should work just fine if I can figure out a way to keep the mag release from getting unintentionally pressed.

You could also install a stiffer mag catch spring I guess if you wanted to go that far. Personally I've never taken a mag catch out of a Hi-Capa so that's uncharted territory for me.

Pooh, Balanced Aquarium's airsoft source was out of stock on the WE I had them order. Guess I'll have to pick another one... maybe I'll shoot for a KWA this time. Drat, I was supposed to have a non-ridicule pistol by this weekend.
Matt from Balanced Aquarium is out for some medical procedure, I hear. This puts my ordering on hold which may actually be a blessing since I'm quite a bit over budget on airsoft this month.

Balanced Aquarium keeps being unable to get the GBB pistols I've inquired about so I think I'm just going to have to go online for it. I'm looking over the different WE Hi-Capa variants to pick something with a nice clean look. I was hoping to have something by now but it looks like I will have a new sidearm in time for airsoft in April.

Depends on what you're looking for. Personally I like the long dust cover versions of the Hi-Capa.

The short dust cover versions look more like a standard 1911.

I'm curious why you're looking at the Hi-Capa as your only choice for a side arm when holsters for them are stupidly hard to find.
Something like an M-9 Combat Pistol (Berretta M92) or regular old 1911 would be a lot easier to find a holster and magazine pouches for.

To say there are no holsters for hi-cap 1911's of the tactical nature is incorrect... at least one company, safariland has a tactical holster for the race gun type hi-cap frames i.e STI and Capsian series pistols. however they are not cheap 100-125 is average.. here's one link

I am aware that holsters are out there for the Hi-Capa/2011 pistols and I've done hours of research looking for them. However they are never cheap and in some cases cost more than the gun you're going to put in it. Bladetech also makes a holster for the Hi-Capa, but again, expensive. So I misspoke on that part. I should have said their are not "Cheap" tactical holsters for the Hi-Capa.
There are some options, as previously stated by myself, which involve modification of the trigger frame or modification of the holster itself which allow you to use either a Sig P226 Serpa holster (holster mod) or a standard 1911 holster for railed 1911's (frame mod).
There are a lot of inexpensive tactical holsters for M9's and 1911's out there.
Magazine pouches are a completely different story, and while their might be a lot of magazine pouches out there, only a few are actually big enough to accommodate the sheer size of a Hi-Capa 30rnd magazine. Condor is the only company I know of that can hold these massive mags and even then they only just fit.

Well, I really like several things about the Hi-Capas. I like the 30ish round capacity of the magazines and the weight feels nice in the hand. I REALLY like te style of trigger. Some of the single stack 1911s are pretty nice style wise but have like half the capacity.

Well, it's no double stack but meets all the other requirements I'm looking for in a sidearm. Any opinions on this.

Anyone know if the WE single stack 1911 mags have any issues.

M9 Magazines are 30 rounds, just like Hi-Capa mags. They feel a little bigger in the hand and the trigger has a different quality to it. Of course there really isn't anything that feels like a single action slider trigger....
Personally, if I had it to do all over again, I would have started with an M9, H&K USP, or Sig P226. I originally bought my 7" Dragon Hi-Capa as a primary weapon seeking to make use of the long barrel to be able to "hang" with the guys running AEGs and never really intended to use it as a side arm. I really was just going to the gun I could afford that had the longest barrel length I could find and wasn't worrying about how I was going to carry it since I just had to stuff the extra magazine I bought with it in my pocket and carried the gun all the time.
And, while I can't say that the Hi-Capa is a bad gun, I will say that it is a bit of an expensive hassle to get gear that will accept its strange proportions. Any of the three guns mentioned above will have holster and mag pouch options of plenty and be completely competent as combat pistols... which they all are anyway.
WE 1911's -
The only issue that I'm aware of is the magazines suffering from metal fatigue over time causing the magazine to swell when full leading to the magazine getting stuck in the mag well until it has been emptied of gas. This is not something that I've encountered with Hi-Capa or other double stack style magazines and is likely due to the thinness of the gas chamber wall on the single stack mags needed to achieve the volume of gas required to shoot all 17 shots the gun is capable of carrying. Otherwise they behave exactly like Hi-Capas.
Same gun on Evike for $100
