ok guys, I am debating going off in 180 degree move from where i oriiginally wanted to go.... well anyhow, I have a utg m14 with several deep fire mags... the rifle is iffy at best.... but the mags are decent...  that also gives me multiple mid-caps and i think a high cap as well... the current manufacturers of m14s seem to be by G&G, CA, Kart, AGM,TSD and UTG. UTG is out but all else is up to question... the price difference is about 100-200.00 355 for a ful metaland real wood stock standard m14...

would love to get some feedback....

why do i have a nasty feeling i need to buid and arms room Bananas

First of that is NOT A NASTY FEELING. Embrace it you will love it!

Out of those listed I would only consider CA and G&G. There have been several M14 come out to the field but only a few still work. I am not sure what brands they are but I would bet it is one of those two.

If you've got the cash then go with one of these.

When it comes to SCAR's I would have to say that VFC makes the best. The only downside with VFC SCAR-H in particular is that you may be unable to get replacement magazines. If you are looking at the SCAR-L they will take most any M4 compatible magazine. I have had SCAR-H mags on back order since September '09.

I am not familiar with IFC so I will not comment on them.

Ares is a company that is made up of some EX-Star employees. Star is not my favorite brand for MANY reasons mainly due to cheap parts decisions on their AEG's. This is not to say that ex employees will follow the lead of their former employer but it is worth noting.

Star makes plastic AEGs with plastic internals. They charge accordingly and are as reliable as one would expect all plastic guns to be in a metal gun world. load of crap

Guarder/Intruder Shop has been in the airsoft parts business for about a decade. They make some of the best parts in the business. I have used their threaded muzzle adapters, suppressors, RIS kits, gear sets, springs, tappet plates, bushings and pistons just to name a few. They do not or just started to make AEG's though so I can only attest to the years that their parts have lasted me.

thanks northern lights

I will admit freelyI am a serious newb to this stuff.... themain things I am on a limited budget and don't want to  Censored with stuff I will not be happy with.

there are so many points i want to balance such as
1) relaibility
2) rugged
3) realistic weight Very important...if it feels like a toy i will not be happy
4) realistic action... this is were many of the m14's rock.. even my pos has a somewhat satisfying ka-thunk when you pull the bolt
5) reasonabley priced
6) replica of a real gun i liked or used... if i had to pick my all time fave would be the pig...but i don't have the 400+ dollars nor do I have the budget for BB's  my BB budget would be astronomical...
7) AEG or Gas... as much as I love the gas blowback that will probably be saved for my pistol...
my all time favorite guns are
M14 series
AR seriesnot to crazy about the uber shortones though
SCAR will likely go with the L version due to cost and mags
M60
