Have you seen the movie Role Models? This reminds me of that. facepalm

Do you walk away with worse bruises from Airsoft or these type of shenanigans?

Ive seen role models thats closer to LARP, but they role play, At boffers we just want to fight, none of that lame magic nonsense.
The heaviest day playing airsoft is a light day at boffer.  We have had a few BAD injuries over the years, once I hurt my back and was bedridden for a week, Dik tore the rotator cup in his left knee(still healing 5yr)  and Zach tore his ACL almost in half had to have surgery and still hasn't really come back to fight after 3yr (and the reason I WILL NOT wear cleats). Pretty much all the light injuries from football and boxing combined. blackeye
So yeah with out question much more bruises and whatnot from boffer. No offence intended but I almost view it as retiring into airsoft.   Old Geezer
Medieval pillow fighting Laugh out loud never thought of it like that.

airsoft combat is a little more sensory demanding and requires more attention to ones surroundings other than a direct target, making the play just as suspenseful

I don't know that the two can really be compared, as they are "sports" that seem pretty far appart. I have to admit I have been intrigued by sword fighting, rapiers spacifically not fencing. That would also be a different thing it seems as you would have only 1 opponent, and the swords could actually kill you, so you would want to be training with a professional.

With any risky phisically demanding sport, at some point you have to ask yourself  "are the risks worth the fun I am having?"

At times I think I played football a little too long, when my knees or back act up before I think they should. There are some injuries that just never go away, no matter how much you rehab or re-strengthen the area. It can effect aspects of your life in the future that you never even considered at the time.

Hern, you forgot that Lance has lost an eye to the hobby and almost lost the other in the same manner.

Lance has been hit in his good eye with a boffer arrow but, he lost his other eye in a bb gun war. I repeat HE LOST HIS EYE TO A BB!!! So please wear your eye pro. 1 Thumb Up yeah there are other injuries, sprained ankles, sprained wrists, black eyes, split lips, hyperextened  and compacted joints, dislocated fingers, surely a concussion or four, broken arm or two and so many scrapes and bumps you don't even pay attention anymore(it's not as rough as it sounds I swear).
but yeah Lance actually lost his eye to a bb gun war. If lance had lost an eye to an arrow we would not use them anymore.

I definately agree with hern in the fact that, I even suffer for m the occasionaly pulled muscle or sprain for AS (when i dont do a warm up jog). but AS usually never ends in losing an eye... I surrender (go eye pro!)
